[18] LOTO PATCHWORK

Éste es un proyecto en el que estoy trabajando ahora. Se llama [18]LOTO porque he tomado la idea de un libro de patchwork japonés y sashiko, del que hablaré otro día.

A propósito del nombre [18]LOTO, creo que es un buen momento para explicar el por qué de los títulos de mis obras. Evidentemente, el número me sirve para ordenarlas cronológicamente. No es que tenga una especial utilidad, y creo que en algún momento llegaré a perder la cuenta, pero responde a mi interés por el orden… Y a continuación le pongo nombres de flores, muchas de ellas en inglés. Me gusta la sonoridad… Me gusta pensar en las listas de palabras, como nombres de flores, nombres de animales, y cosas así. Una vez más, interés por el orden… A veces la obra tiene alguna relación con la flor en concreto y a veces no.

Me parece que es la primera vez que utilizo un bloque tradicional, en este caso de tiras. Creo que según el patchwork americano se llama “railway fence”. Para mí es algo nuevo que aprender, y un reto, sobre todo al no utilizar las telas adecuadas para el trabajo. En todo caso, ¡divertido!

On behalf of [18] LOTO, I think it is a good moment to explain why the titles of my works. Obviously, the number sorts them chronologically.It doesn’t have a particular value, and I think at some point I’ll get to lose the account, but responds to my interest in order… And then I put the names of flowers, many of them in English. I like the sound… I like to think of the lists of words, like names of flowers, names of animals and things like that. Once again, interest in order … Sometimes the work is related in any flower in particular and sometimes not.

I think it’s my first time using a traditional block, in this case with strips. I’m not sure if, according to the traditional American patchwork, it’s called “railway fence.” For me it is something new to learn and a challenge, especially when not using the right fabrics for the job. Anyway, funny!***
