Más del archivo. Éstos son dos que utilizo como manteles individuales, que hice durante el mes de agosto de 2008 mientras estaba en Londres. Me llevaba los hexágonos en el bolso y, cuando me apetecía, me paraba en un parque y me ponía a coser. Eso en España resulta muy raro, pero no en casi el resto del mundo…

Están cosidos a mano, con el método del english paper-piecing. Y en éstos hice los hexágonos tan pequeños que me llevaron un montón de tiempo… En sucesivos trabajos parecidos he cambiado las plantillas por otras más grandes. El acolchado es a máquina. Pude hacer un acolchado libre en condiciones, porque por fin compré un prensatelas adecuado para ello.

Estos trabajos son un comodín para mí. Me relaja mucho hacerlos, porque no requieren una gran reflexión. También son fáciles de portar, para viajes y demás. Y me sirven para aprovechar pedazos de tela muy pequeños o difíciles de coser. Pero a pesar de esta aparente sencillez, a mí los resultados me gustan mucho. Me parecen complejos en su composición, espaciales y abstractos. Me gusta su geometría.

They are all sewn by hand, using the method of english paper-piecing. I did the hexagons so small that I took a lot of time… In subsequent work I have changed the templates for other larger. The quilting is by machine. I could make a proper free-machine quilting, because at last I bought a darning foot for this.

I do a lot of these kind of works lately. They make me relax a lot, because they do not require a high reflection. They are also easy to carry, travel and so. And I can use all my tinny scraps and other fabrics difficult to be sewn in other projects. But despite its apparent simplicity, I love the results. Seem complex in composition, with space and abstract. I like its geometry.***
